The Ranch is a Co-op Park of the Escapees RV Club located on the northern edge of the Chihuahuan Desert in southeastern New Mexico near Lakewood, between Artesia and Carlsbad.  In its history of development, The Ranch began in 1982 with the initial lot drawing taking place in May 1983.  Since then, 120 lots have been developed along with facilities such as a large Ranch House activities center, dry camping and storage areas, an office, laundry, and workshop.  

The development of The Ranch was described in a chapter contained in the book History of the Escapees Club in Prose and Pictures by Kay Peterson and Todd Paddock.  This book chapter is reprinted herein with Kay Peterson's kind permission.

The Ranch is a SKP (Escapees RV Club) Co-op Resort and welcomes SKPs to become members by leasing a lot.  The Ranch has the reputation among Escapees (SKP's) as the most friendly park in their system.  Many of the lot owners, or more precisely the leaseholders, place their lots in the "rental pool" so that other Escapees or guests of members can enjoy staying at The Ranch.  Take a look at our Website to see what we have to offer, then come for a stay. 

Ranch Ramblings, a Yahoo News Group was started for the exchange of information and ideas between leaseholders at The Ranch.  While we encourage open and frank discussion, this is not meant to be forum for expressing personal gripes or merely venting. We hope that you will use this group to keep friends from The Ranch informed of your wanderings and activities, clarify Board decisions, and civilly discuss issues of general importance to the group.
