RANCH AT FT. DAVIS TEXAS
On
Highway 118, Five Miles Northwest of Ft Davis, TX

Prude Ranch is a working ranch in the heart of
beautiful mountain country. The spring flowers will be in bloom and
be sure to watch for deer and antelope.
Nearby is Fort Davis National Historical Site,
McDonald Observatory (an evening star party is on the schedule), the
Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, the
Overland Trail Museum, the
Marfa Lights. A flint lock rifle (black powder) demonstration has
been arranged at Prude Ranch.
Activities will kick off with Happy Hour followed by
a finger food covered dish supper on Monday, April 18.
Wednesday evening after dinner we will be entertained
by that great comical musician,
Wash Tub Jerry.
Camping will be $17.00 per night. Do not
make direct reservations. We will make a group reservation.

Observatory (available Tuesday only)
Look at the Stars through the telescopes. Fee
$10.00, 65 and over $9.00
Go early to visit the new Visitor
Center
Wednesday, April 20
8:00 Coffee and doughnuts
10:30 Flint lock rifle (black
powder) demonstration
This will be a "hands-on" activity
for those who want to shoot old guns
Afternoon free for your choice of
activities (see suggestions below)
4:00 Happy Hour
6:00 Catered dinner at Prude Ranch
followed by fun
entertainment by that great
comical musician Wash Tub Jerry.
Enjoy all-you-can-eat buffet of
salad, chicken fried steak, mashed
potatoes, corn, hot roll, dessert
and tea, coffee and water. Fee $ 12.50 per person
including entertainment, with a minimum of 30 people.
Thursday, April 21
Hitch-up breakfast and farewells
Camping will be $17.00 per night. Please
wait for Parking Crew to assist you as spaces are a little tight.
You may come early or stay later.
Other activities available at
Prude Ranch are swimming in the indoor heated pool (so bring your
swimsuit) and horseback riding with a wrangler to guide you.
Other places of interest include
Fort Davis National Historic Site, Est. 1854, the Chihuahuan Desert
Research Institute, Overland Trail Museum (open Tuesday only from
1-5 pm), Blue Mountain Vineyard (with wine tasting), and the Marfa
Lights.
There are several restaurants in
town. Try the big juicy hamburger and a real old fashioned
malt at the downtown
Fort Davis Drugstore. Check the posted
menu at Prude Ranch also. |
