Las
Cruces, New Mexico
Mesilla Madness
March
20-23 2003

The
Chilies enjoyed a coyote howling good time in Las Cruces, NM, March 20-23.
John and Judy McCain were the wagon masters for this gala affair.
The activities were kicked off at the five-star Hacienda
RV Resort with a happy hour and a finger food potluck. The
speaker from the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum was a no-show, but the
Chilies had a great time visiting and getting caught up with each other's
winter activities.
Each morning the Hacienda laid out a breakfast spread for all to enjoy
which was a great beginning for each day's schedule. No one had to
get up and cook breakfast! There it was all prepared for us -- what
a treat!
Friday was a busy day. Some Chilies went to the Farm and Ranch
Museum and also enjoyed lunch there in the restaurant, while other Chilies
went to the War Eagle Museum in Santa Teresa, NM, and others went
shopping. Everyone met that evening for a margarita party hosted by
the Hacienda RV Resort and then itt was off to the La
Posta Restaurant in Old Mesilla for dinner.
The Farmers Market was the place to be Saturday with lots of local
artisans displaying their beautiful handicrafts along the sidewalks of the
City Mall. That evening after the Business Meeting, we enjoyed an
entree of bar-b-que and we each brought a side dish to share.
Also enjoying a rally at the Hacienda was a Winnebago group. We
opened the sliding doors between our two meeting rooms and we all enjoyed
the evening's entertainment arranged for us by the Hacienda. Eddy
Harrison, a Cowboy Poet and Singer, gave a grand performance for all of
us. He sang those good old songs we all recognized.
Some Chilies brought along their bathing suits and enjoyed the hot tub.
Chilies and local businesses donated many beautiful door prizes. We
saved our receipts from our purchases, placed them in a basket, and at the
end of the rally the Hacienda drew out Frank and Karen Ogden's name and
gave them a free night's stay.
We welcomed new members Rob and Mary Ann Sorensen and Roland and Carmen
Begin. Along with the new members, attending were Dave & Pat
Armstrong, Bob & Donna Brown, Helen Farnsworth, Mike & Margie
Klick, Larry & Cecy Neitz, Lou & Barb Novy, Frank & Karen
Ogden, Rudy & Jennie Schubert, Phil & Gene Sharp, Dave & Sally
Stribling, Wayne & Trish Teegarden, and our wonderful WagonMasters,
John & Judy McCain. There were 14 rigs with 27 people at this
rally.
Thanks John and Judy for a grand time!
